Reasons to Love October

reasons to love october

October has always been my favorite month. You could say that it has something to do with my birthday, but I have a long list of reasons to love October. To me, October always has this nice, warm and wonderful vibe. It’s when the weather is cold enough for sweaters, coats, leggings, and boots to be out of the closet, and nothing beats the feeling of coming home with damp socks to a mug of steaming hot chocolate (best to be savored in bed with your favorite book in hand). It really is a beautiful month, quite literally. The beautiful colors, crisp walks in the park, the smell of frosty mornings… How could you not love October with those?

And incidentally, most of my favorite people were born in October, including this guy.

I consider myself lucky enough to know this great guy, but to have mutual feelings, that makes me (us?) the luckiest. Never had I ever imagined falling for a guy who’s completely different from me. He does coding for fun, (something I’d never understand, but works well for me because this blog is all his work), his choice for movies and books is completely out there (at least for me), and he’s a bit obsessed with triathlon (while I have to battle myself just to go for a quick run).

But one day when we talked about dream houses, I said I wanted to have underground secret passages. He told me it reminded him of Famous Five by Enid Blyton, and that’s how I knew this guy could be my match. I spent all my childhood reading and re-reading Famous Five (and other books by Enid Blyton), having pretend picnics and adventures of my own as a side effect. Growing up, I’d dreamed to be with someone who also read and loved (any) books by Enid Blyton, and I finally gave up because those guys were as rare as hen’s teeth. Then I met him, and found out about this Enid Blyton thing (good job, universe!). Along the way, I’ve found that we have a lot of other things in common too, which is a bonus.

He cracks me up sometimes, like the time I gave him a link about Rowling’s revelation of the intimate details in the wizarding world, and his response was, “Do you think she got drunk one night and decided to go on Twitter?” Funny like that, my guy.

Above all, he’s made 2015 a lot more bearable and a lot less awful, and I can’t thank him enough for that.

He’s adding to my ever-growing list of reasons to love October, that’s for sure.

Happy birthday, cariad! 🙂

October is my favourite month too. Conkers, autumn smells, warm coloured leaves, stews, new jumpers, lots of cultural activities, new courses. Love it more than spring.
