Visiting Iti

It’s been a month since Iti began her training for Indonesia Mengajar. Before she left, we promised to visit. After several delays, last weekend we made it, bringing her things she would need (and want) during the quarantine and the year ahead when she will be teaching in Rote Ndao.

We met her and decided to have lunch in the floating restaurant — so they say — on the dam. The trip to the restaurant was okay (apart from the time the boat was swaying like craaazy), but the real adventure was on the way back. It started to rain, lightly at first, then harder and harder as we reached the bank. By the time we got off the boat, we were drenched.

So to recap, we were soaked from head to toe, changed clothes in the car (thanks for the boys who happened to bring spare clothes), and wet and cold throughout the way back to Bandung (or Jakarta). The next day Timothy said that his wallet was still wet, and in addition, his car was moldy.

Anyway, it was fun! It has been so long since we gathered and laughed and had that much fun.

See you in 3 weeks Iti!
