To A Place Where Christmas is Christmas

to a place where christmas is christmas

This month has been quite busy, to say the least. It started with a field trip to Central and East Java for work, then followed by heavier-than-usual workload. On top of that, the preparation for the holiday season has added to the frenzy.

All those things have kept me busy for quite a while now, but I am fully aware of how quietly Christmas is celebrated here. Those things I love about Christmas? Apart from the gifts and snuggling up thing, I consider it lucky if I can get at least 2 of those. This place doesn’t feel like December, and it definitely doesn’t feel like Christmas.

And that makes me really, really sad.

December is the one month I look forward to for almost the entire year, every year. Christmas is a special time for me, and I want to celebrate it the way it should be celebrated. I need to go to a place where Christmas is not just on my desk at work or in my room. I need so much more than that.

This year has been tough, and I’ve never felt more desperate to have a good Christmas. To make up for all the crap in 2015, and to make at least one wonderful memory in 2015.

Three years ago, I went to Singapore to escape the fact that Christmas was nonexistent here. And this year, I’m doing the same. This time tomorrow, I’ll be flying to Singapore. It’s not ideal, but with the limited time I have, it’s the best option.

Merry Christmas, everyone! I hope your Christmas is better than mine. 🙂

Christmas is pretty nonexistent here, too, really. Because of laws and such, Christmas is basically prohibited to be celebrated publicly here. We don’t get ANY decorations, ANY songs, ANY sales for Christmas here and it sucks big time.

2015 was pretty crappy for me too, but I think we can always make Christmas our own if we find the right people to celebrate with. I don’t celebrate with my family because they don’t believe in the holiday, but I step into my best friend’s household and it completely transforms Chrsitmas for me.

Good luck to you and Merry Christmas!

Yes, I was quite surprised when I read about it on the news. Celebrating it with people definitely helps a lot in lifting up the spirit. Hope you have a good time on Christmas, and good luck to you too for next year! 🙂
