I don’t know how to begin writing about this. I’ve posted quite a lot of things about Christmas with my apparent affinity for it. Christmas isn’t just about one day, anyway. The preparation prior to the day is as exciting as Christmas day itself.
So let’s start about this December. I’ve been practically giddy with excitement at Christmas bits and bobs, and going to the Christmas markets, Winchester, and Bath definitely amplified my love for Christmas.
Bath at Christmas is definitely among my fondest memories about December this year. I went there 3 weeks ago, and that day was a special one. My housemate kindly woke me up, and I went out to the frosty morning.
It was Saturday, and as you could expect, Bath was packed.
It was still beautiful, nonetheless.
We made our way to the Roman Bath first, spent about an hour trying to be a bit more cultural.
We went out to the crowds outside, really desperate to look at the stalls and get our Christmas shopping done. That didn’t happen. In the end, we gave up and just strolled around.
One more thing about December: it’s definitely acceptable to walk around with Santa hats.
I remember this particular time, when we decided to take a break and chose the least crowded place to have coffee. I was sipping my eggnog latte when Farah messaged me. ‘Dissertation result is out. Check yours.‘ I could hear the urgency in her tone, even through WhatsApp. As I was trying frantically to log in to my student account, I thought, if it’s bad, the whole day would be ruined. It was far better than my expectation and the rest of the day was splendid. This news, and this day at Bath, are definitely some of the highlights of this month.
We watched the sun disappeared behind the buildings and trees, and walked back to the markets.
And we finally called it a day, leaving behind the gorgeous town (and my favorite Christmas tree).
A few weeks running up to Christmas, I’ve had some misfortunes (broken phone, cracked laptop screen, high fever, to name a few). Despite all those things, this month is still wonderful. It’s my favorite time of the year, after all. And this Christmas, is definitely unforgettable.
Merry Christmas! 🙂
