Lately, I’ve been struggling to write. This happened when I wanted to write about Christmas, then the year 2014, and now, my homecoming. I have a wild guess this has something to do with the overwhelming emotions, but who knows.
By the time this post is published, I’ll be on the plane, heading east to a place called home. It feels weird to go somewhere called home when you’re leaving what feels like your true home. When I left Indonesia 16 months ago, I was sad, but it was nothing like this. I guess at that time, I knew that I would come back at some point. My consolation at that time, was the fact that it wasn’t a farewell.
This time, such consolations don’t always look promising. I made promises with my friends to meet in other places like somewhere in Europe, Dubai, India, or Indonesia, in a time that is subject to our circumstances, and herein lies the problem. None of us is sure about the future, thus putting this promise to a precarious sense.
It’s always heartbreaking to leave a place that gives you wondrous memories, but leaving the people behind without knowing when to meet again is the hardest.
So. I’m out of words now. My next post will be from Indonesia, and this is an official goodbye to the place and people that I have the privilege to know in the past 16 months.
See you someday, hopefully.
